Knutsford-Heritage-Centre

Knutsford Heritage Centre is set in the heart of the town in a reconstructed 17th-century timber-framed building on King Street.

Run entirely by volunteers, the Centre has two galleries, two lovely courtyard gardens and a well-stocked gift shop. This is also the home of the famous Knutsford Millennium Tapestry. Set in three distinct panels, the remarkable tapestry is more than 13 metres long and was created by over 3,000 local residents to celebrate Knutsford in the millennium year 2000.

Along with an ever-changing exhibition programme, walks, talks and other activities there is plenty to see so come along and explore the charm of the Centre and the town.

The BBC production of Cranford is a story about Knutsford in the 1840s; a small Cheshire market town on the cusp of great change. The railway is pushing its way relentlessly towards the town from Manchester, bringing fears of migrant workers and the breakdown of law and order.

The arrival of handsome new doctor, Frank Harrison (Simon Woods) from London causes a stir; not only because of his revolutionary medical methods, but also because of the effect he has on many of the ladies’ hearts in the town.
